The / in Mono / Chromatic presents the work of Tammi Campbell and Leah Rosenberg who have been in conversation for over a decade about paint, process and practice.
Campbell and Rosenberg have seemingly disparate art practices, yet have shared paint as a common motivation and material. In this two-person exhibition, Rosenberg focuses on color, time and sequence in three suites of prints. Serendipitous overlaps occur in the inclusion of drop cloths and white paint stacks.
The interplay between their works is more of a subtle and possibly playful nod to one another, rather than a direct response. For example, Campbell’s tarp reflects an unexpected insertion of blue into her work, similarly Rosenberg’s all white paint stack moves away from her trademark use of colours. Both artists have also employed the gestural act of folding and stacking paint, thus drawing aesthetic links to their processes.
